Richard Henry Wilman was the son of Frank Bevan and Clara Ellen Wilman, of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He was a farmer and a truck driver and wanted to continue to farm after the war. He had a fracture of his right collar bone in 1935.
He was with 438 Squadron as a Fitter II. He was killed on July 16, 1944, when the Typhoon piloted by 440 Squadron pilot C.J. McConvey lost control upon take off. The medical report indicated Wilman was 15 feet from bomb. See 438 Holmes and 440 McConvey for more details.
